General Election 2008: How Will the Election Results Impact 2009 Capital Improvement Programs?

Date: Wednesday, November 19

The 2008 General Election is now behind us, and voters in the greater Los Angeles area eagerly await the results of the many initiatives aimed at improving educational facilities, infrastructure, children's hospitals and much more. From Long Beach and Los Angeles to Beverly Hills, Pasadena, Victor Valley and many places in between, the election resultas will have a direct impact on how local K-12 and Community College Districts will move forward with capital improvement programs in 2009.

Measure J, the Los Angeles Community College District's (LACCD) $3.5 billion community college bond measure, aims to help create the facilities that are necessary to prepare workers for new green jobs that are needed by the sustainable design industries to revitalizing the economy of Southern California.

LAUSD's $7 billion Measure Q, the Safe, Healthy Neighborhood Schools Bond which will fund the construction and modernization of schools across the district's 26 cities and unincorporated areas of Los Angeles. This bond will focus on building and repairing schools that are educationally and environmentally sound, modernizations at existing schools, enhancing neighborhoods/communities, and reflect wise and efficient use of scarce land and public resources.

At Pasadena Unified School District, Measure TT would allocate $350 million to repair and upgrade the district's aging and deteriorating campuses in Altadena, Pasadena and Sierra Madre. Measure TT will aim to make all school campuses safe, secure and accessible, emphasize technology, green buildings and ensure transparency and accountability.

  • Join this panel of regional representatives from K-12 and Community College Districts to learn the:
  • Anticipated future of their respective bond programs;
  • Priorities for improvements throughout their districts;
  • Future of bond measures that were not approved;
  • Contacts within these districts to establish relationships with; and
  • Development timelines of projects.

This program not only offers you an opportunity to learn about capital development programs, but allows you to address post-election questions that affect your firm and its ability to thrive through tough economic times. Don't miss this rare opportunity.
